'Spring Forward': How Florence Road and their recent EP are taking the internet by storm

The Irish Indie-Rock band ‘Florence Road’ have taken over the internet with their recent EP Spring Forward creating viral moments.

Fans of Wolf Alice and The Cranberries, your next favourite band are right in front of you and here's why:

Currently touring European Festivals, the Irish phenomenon Florence Road are the next band to watch. 

Their recent indie-rock EP Spring Forward has taken the internet by storm, most specifically their hit single 'Rabbits Can Swim' as well as their most anticipated tune, 'Hanging Out to Dry', hitting 18,000,000 streams and making them the first all-female Irish group to top the Irish Airplay Chart.

The Irish Quartet consisting of Lead Vocalist Lily Aron, Guitarist Emma Brandon, Bassist Alibhe Barry and Drummer/Pianist Hannah Kelly have truly made their mark in the category of emerging artists and could be the key to further female representation in the festival scene. 

The all-female band have already laid their mark as an established band, managing to support several major mainstream artists, such as Olivia Rodrigo, Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party and most recently, Kings of Leon, all before a debut album, a huge achievement for this stage in their career. 

Starting in their very own school lunch hall, Florence Road’s carefully curated TikTok covers of Olivia Rodrigo's 'Making The Bed' and 'Obsessed' landed them an opening spot for Rodrigo on the Guts World Tour, stopping at Marlay Park, Dublin and BST Hyde Park, London, with a combined audience of 110,000 people.

They didn't stop there, finding themselves supporting Wolf Alice on their 2025 European Tour and went on to perform alongside The Last Dinner Party’s first run of shows in 2026 during their From The Pyre Tour. 

"We're now supporting our favourite artists, which is a very surreal thing." said Barry to Billboard. "We're soaking up every second." It is safe to say that Florence Road have created an astonishing start for themselves within the music industry, from lunch time performances to now touring the world with mainstream talent. 

Road have just recently announced their first nationwide tour of Ireland, stopping at major, ground-breaking venues including the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin and Ulster Hall in Belfast. "We've wanted to do this for a long time, and we can't wait to bring these shows around the country" said Florence Road on their Instagram.

The EP Spring Forward focuses on loss, love, longing and realisation that what you are losing is not meant to stay after all. 

Aron talking to Ones To Watch explained: “every song on this EP is about love in all forms of it: really good love, new love, and not good love, ugly love, love that you don't want to remember.”

The band’s latest release takes a new outlook on exploring the theme of love, taking us on a musical journey throughout a relationship. Road explores the feelings and hardships we encounter when falling/being in love as well as its aftermath. For instance 'Rabbits Can Swim', their third song on the highly accredited piece can be associated with falling in love and how beautiful that can be. In contrast, 'Storm Warnings' can be associated with the end of a relationship and the feelings that can come along with such hardship. 

Although, their most significant song on the EP is the band’s viral 'Hanging Out to Dry'. A song written about convincing yourself you aren’t falling for someone because you feel as if you will be left “Hanging Out to Dry”, focuses on themes of feeling under-appreciated and being in denial. The TikTok snippet of the song has gained over 400 million views and 25,000 videos in relation to it.

In addition, Florence Road's writing process for this EP isn't what you'd expect. Aron stated: 'theres no one way that we do it.' Road have admitted to writing major hits like: 'Storm Warnings' and 'Figure It Out' in Aron's back garden shed. It truly does show that an artist can find inspiration in absolutely anything and that genius songs can be written in such a short space of time.

Starting from absolutely nothing, Florence Road are definitely making their mark within music.
