South Gloucestershire-born singer-songwriter Alex Comaish, now based in Bethnal Green, has returned with new single ‘Crazy Lately’ the first single release from his upcoming EP Damp Streets, due for release this July.

Opening with twangy acoustic guitars and upbeat drums, the song builds a steady, classic indie folk feel throughout the opening verse before Comaish’s smooth vocal delivery takes centre stage. The arrangement has a warmth to it, giving an easy momentum, leaning into an alt-pop side while keeping things melodic and bright. The simple structure and chiming guitar textures make the track immediately accessible, suggesting a sound well designed for streaming playlists, and more excitingly, a live audience.

Lyrically, ‘Crazy Lately’ draws attention to the subtle frustrations of Comaish’s life and trying to keep things together. Rather than leaning heavily into a moody tone, the song balances its introspective and personal themes with a catchy, uplifting chorus. The repeated line “I’ve been going crazy lately” weighs on the song, with the simple melody making it a hook easy to catch onto.

As it progresses, Comaish introduces a softer bridge with subtle phone-effect vocals before the memorable chorus returns in full force, bringing the track to a confident, satisfying close. While Comaish still feels like an emerging artist finding his space, ‘Crazy Lately’ carries a polish that feels radio-ready.

As the first preview of his new EP Damp Streets, Comaish’s new single suggests the upcoming project as personal, honest songwriting with an approachable, indie-folk charm.

You can catch Comaish performing live this week as he supports Ben Brown at the Stag’s Head in Hoxton on Friday 20th March.
